  • Festival Information
    • Over the last 33 years SIFF has grown to have over 280 feature/documentary films and 140 short films being presented to an audience of over 160,000 annually. SIFF has been cited as one of the best "audience festivals" in the world. Seattle's love for film makes the city the most appropriate setting for new films to be seen, tested and celebrated by everyone. The SIFF is the largest and most highly-attended film festival in North America.

  • The Winning Director
    • Kirill Mikhanovsky won the Heineken Red Star Award at both the Miami International Film Festival and the Seattle International Film Festival.

      Born and raised in Moscow, Kirill came to the USA in his teens.

      While at UWM, he honed his skills as an actor, writer and director. There he wrote and directed his first short film, Terra Terra.

      Later, while enrolled in the New York University Graduate Film Program, he wrote and directed three more shorts.

      His first feature, Fish Dreams, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006 and has been screened at more than 30 festivals worldwide

      In a village in Brazil, Jusce ekes out a living by diving for lobster. His "prize" at the end of a long day is sitting close to Ana. As she dreams of leaving the village to see the world, Jusce is content with the life he leads. One day an old buddy, Rogério, returns from the big city to along the coast. The day Rogério gives Jusce a ride to Ana's place marks the beginning of their rivalry for Ana's attention. Jusce has to reinvent himself so not to loose Ana to the adventurous Rogério.
